Air Fryer Egg Toast

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or brioche)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes, spinach, herbs, chili flakes

Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread

  • Lay out your slices of bread on a flat surface
  • Use a small glass or cookie cutter to cut a hole in the center of each slice (about 2 inches wide)
  • Alternatively, press the center down with a spoon to create a shallow well without cutting through

2. Butter the Bread

  • Lightly butter one or both sides of the bread slices for extra crispness and flavor
  • You can also brush with olive oil if preferred

3. Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2–3 minutes
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket or tray to prevent sticking

4. Crack the Eggs

  • Carefully place each slice of prepared bread into the air fryer basket
  • Crack one egg into the center hole or well of each slice
  • Season with salt and pepper as desired

5. Air Fry the Toast

  • Cook for 7–9 minutes, depending on how runny or firm you like your egg yolk
  • For a softer yolk, start checking at the 7-minute mark
  • Add cheese or toppings in the last 2 minutes of cooking if desired

6. Remove and Serve

  • Use a spatula to gently lift egg toast from the air fryer
  • Garnish with herbs, avocado slices, or chili flakes
  • Serve warm with a side of fruit, salad, or extra toast
