  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 ½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (to thicken the sauce)

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or avocado oil)
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • ½ small onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

Start by thinly slicing the flank steak or sirloin against the grain. This ensures the beef stays tender and easy to chew.

In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly, then let it marinate for at least 10 minutes while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together:

  • Soy sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Brown sugar
  • Grated ginger
  • Minced garlic
  • Red pepper flakes (if using)
  • Beef broth
  • Cornstarch

This sauce will thicken slightly when cooked, creating a rich, glossy coating for the beef and broccoli.

Step 3: Preheat the Blackstone Griddle

Set your Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat and let it preheat for a few minutes. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over the surface to prevent sticking.

Step 4: Cook the Broccoli and Onions

  • Add the broccoli florets and sliced onions to the griddle.
  • Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, tossing occasionally, until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender but still crisp.
  • Move the vegetables to the side of the griddle.

Step 5: Sear the Beef

  • Add another tablespoon of oil to the center of the griddle.
  • Spread the marinated beef out in a single layer and let it sear for about 2 minutes without touching it.
  • Flip the beef and cook for another 1-2 minutes until beautifully caramelized and browned.

Step 6: Combine Everything

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli.
  • Toss everything together, allowing the sauce to coat the ingredients evenly.
  • Let the sauce bubble and thicken for 1-2 minutes.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy!

  • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice, fried rice, or noodles.
