Instructions
Creating Cranberry Meatball Mummies is straightforward if you follow these steps:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, one egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
3. Form Meatballs: Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
4. Bake Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
5. Roll Out Pastry: While the meatballs are baking, roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into thin strips, approximately 1/2 inch thick.
6. Wrap Meatballs: Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven. Wrapping each meatball with the pastry strips to resemble mummies. Leave space for a “face” by not covering the entire meatball with pastry.
7. Add Egg Wash: Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the wrapped meatballs to help them achieve a golden-brown color during baking.
8. Return to Oven: Reintroduce the wrapped meatballs into the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown.
9. Serve with Cranberry Sauce: Remove the meatballs from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Drizzle with cranberry sauce and place candy eyes on the “faces” of the mummies to complete the creepy look.
