For the Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
For the Creamy Garlic Sauce
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 6–8 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups heavy cream
- ½ cup chicken broth
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
- Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil and 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside on a plate.
Step 2: Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce
- Sauté the Garlic: In the same skillet, melt 4 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned.
- Deglaze the Pan: Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet to add flavor.
- Add the Cream: Stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Incorporate Parmesan and Seasonings: Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, stirring to combine.
Step 3: Combine and Simmer
- Return Chicken to the Skillet: Place the seared chicken breasts back into the skillet, spooning the sauce over them.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 7-10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F).
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
- Finish with Parsley: Sprinkle fresh parsley over the chicken and sauce for a burst of color and flavor.
- Serve: Plate the chicken with your choice of side dishes, generously drizzled with the creamy garlic sauce.
