For the Shrimp
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on optional)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt

- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Orange Sauce
- ½ cup orange juice (freshly squeezed or store-bought)
- Zest of 1 orange
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp honey (or brown sugar)
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for spice)

- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
- Thinly sliced orange wedges
For Serving
- Steamed jasmine rice, noodles, or stir-fried vegetables
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Shrimp
- Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Beat the eggs in a separate shallow dish.
Step 2: Coat the Shrimp
- Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the shrimp into the beaten eggs, then return to the flour mixture, coating thoroughly.
- Place the coated shrimp on a plate or tray and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
Step 3: Fry the Shrimp
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accurate temperature control.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Step 4: Make the Orange Sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes (if using).
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to a glossy consistency.
Step 5: Combine Shrimp and Sauce
- Transfer the fried shrimp to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the warm orange sauce over the shrimp and gently toss to coat evenly.
Step 6: Serve and Garnish
- Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter or individual plates.
- Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, and orange wedges, if desired.
- Serve immediately with steamed rice, noodles, or stir-fried vegetables.
