Easter Stuffed Carrot Crescent Rolls

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 stuffed crescent rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crescent Rolls:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for extra golden color)

For the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup finely chopped cooked turkey or ham (optional)

For Decoration:

  • Fresh parsley or dill (to resemble carrot tops)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Equipment

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Color the Crescent Dough

Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles. In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with 1 teaspoon of water. Add a few drops of orange gel food coloring and mix well. Using a pastry brush, lightly paint the orange egg wash over the surface of each crescent triangle to give them a carrot-like color.

Step 3: Shape the Crescent Rolls into Carrots

Starting at the wide end of each crescent triangle, roll the dough toward the pointed tip, forming a croissant-like shape. Slightly curve the ends to resemble a carrot. Place each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake Until Golden

Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for extra shine and color. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before handling.

Step 5: Prepare the Filling

While the crescent rolls are cooling, prepare the filling. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, chopped chives, shredded cheddar, and chopped turkey or ham (if using). Stir until well combined.

Step 6: Fill the Crescent Rolls

Once the crescent rolls are cool enough to handle, use a small knife or piping bag to fill each one with the cream cheese mixture. If you’re using a piping bag, transfer the filling into the bag and pipe it directly into the rolls for easy stuffing.

Step 7: Add the “Carrot Tops”

Insert fresh parsley or dill sprigs into the top of each roll to resemble carrot greens. This final touch makes them look just like real carrots!

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy

Arrange the stuffed carrot crescent rolls on a serving platter and serve immediately. Enjoy these warm, creamy, and festive Easter treats!
