Ingredients
Scale
For the Firecrackers
- 1 lb (4 sleeves) saltine crackers
- 1 cup vegetable oil (or light olive oil)
- 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (1 oz)
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 2–3 tbsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
Optional Toppings and Pairings
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Cheese slices, pepperoni, or deli meats for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Seasoning Mix
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the vegetable oil, ranch seasoning mix, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika.
- Whisk until the oil and spices are fully incorporated.
Step 2: Arrange the Crackers
- Place the saltine crackers in a large, resealable plastic bag or a wide, airtight container. Arrange them in neat stacks to ensure even seasoning distribution.
Step 3: Add the Seasoning Mixture
- Slowly pour the prepared seasoning mixture over the crackers.
- Seal the bag or container tightly. If using a plastic bag, gently toss the crackers to coat them evenly with the oil mixture. If using a container, carefully rotate or flip the container every hour to distribute the seasoning.
Step 4: Marinate the Crackers
- Let the crackers marinate at room temperature for at least 12 hours, flipping or tossing them occasionally to ensure all sides are evenly coated. For best results, marinate for up to 24 hours.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Once the crackers have absorbed the seasoning, transfer them to a serving platter or airtight container.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve as a standalone snack or pair with your favorite dips, soups, or cheese.
