Ingredients
- 1 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup boiling water
- 15–20 Oreo cookies (crushed)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 8–10 whole Oreo cookies (for decoration)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper to prevent the cake from sticking.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to ensure all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed. Add the eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix everything together until smooth and well-combined.
Slowly pour in the boiling water, mixing continuously. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay! It helps create a moist cake. Once the batter is fully mixed, fold in the crushed Oreo cookies, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. You can use an electric mixer for this step to make the process easier. Once the cream is whipped to your desired consistency, gently fold in crushed Oreo cookies.
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a cake stand or serving plate. Spread a generous amount of the Oreo whipped cream frosting on top. Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting and press down gently to ensure it sticks.
Cover the entire cake with the Oreo whipped cream frosting, smoothing it out with a spatula to create an even layer. Be sure to coat the sides as well for a fully frosted cake.
For a fun, decorative touch, place whole Oreo cookies around the top edge of the cake or press them into the frosting. You can also sprinkle additional crushed Oreos on top to give the cake a textured, cookie-filled look.
Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow the frosting to set. Once chilled, slice and serve the cake, making sure each slice has a generous portion of frosting and Oreo goodness.
