  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Toppings:

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced green bell peppers (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Pie Crust

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the refrigerated pie crust and press it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork to prevent bubbling during baking.
  3. Brush the crust lightly with olive oil for extra flavor and bake it in the oven for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.

Step 2: Cook the Filling

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3–4 minutes, or until the onions are soft and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to thicken slightly. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

Step 3: Assemble the Pizza Burger Pie

  1. Spread the ground beef filling evenly into the pre-baked pie crust.
  2. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the filling, followed by the cheddar cheese.
  3. Top with sliced pepperoni, black olives, and diced green bell peppers (if using). Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan on top.

Step 4: Bake the Pie

  1. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  2. If the crust edges start to brown too quickly, cover them with foil or a pie crust shield.

Step 5: Cool and Serve

  1. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 5–10 minutes to allow the filling to set.
